PRESS: TurkStream may go through Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary
MOSCOW, Nov 22 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom plans to deliver gas under the TurkStream gas pipeline project through the territories of Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and Slovakia, Kommersant business daily reported on Thursday.
“As seen in the materials of gas delivery operators of Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and Slovakia, released in October and November under an open season procedure, Gazprom has decided to supply gas to Europe via the second string of the TurkStream pipeline through these states,” it said.
The Bulgarian operators plan to hold the auction in December, and operators of Hungary, Slovakia and Austrian held such auctions for a 7-year period from October 2022 in October, the newspaper also said.
A spokesperson for Gazprom declined to comment.
“Participation in the open season procedures means that Gazprom fully complies with the E.U. requirements and the Third Energy Package,” Kommersant quoted Maria Belova, a representative of Vygon Consulting, as saying.
The TurkStream pipeline was designed to consist of two branches with a length of over 900 kilometers and a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters each. One of them, finished in May 2018, is to carry Russian gas to Turkey, while the other is to transit gas to the European countries through Turkey and is to be finished in 2019.
